Navigating the NDIS system can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re focused on getting the right support for your child. At Youth OT, we help families across Queensland access paediatric occupational therapy through the NDIS with confidence and clarity.
What is the NDIS and How Does it Help My Child?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for children with developmental delays or disabilities to access early intervention services like occupational therapy. Through the NDIS, eligible families can receive support for assessments, therapy sessions, assistive technology, and more.
Step-by-Step Guide to Accessing OT Services
1. Check Your Child’s Eligibility
Children under 7 may be eligible under the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) pathway. Children 7 and older can apply through the general access pathway. You can start by contacting your local Early Childhood Partner or visiting ndis.gov.au.
2. Gather Documentation
Helpful documentation includes:
OT or GP reports outlining developmental concerns
School or childcare observations
Previous assessments (speech, paediatrician, psychology)
3. Request an NDIS Planning Meeting
During the meeting, you’ll create a plan outlining your child’s support needs and goals. Be specific about why OT is essential—mention goals like improving self-care skills, emotional regulation, or fine motor development.
4. Choose Your Provider
Once your plan is approved, you can select an NDIS-registered provider like Youth OT. We offer both plan-managed and self-managed options.
